Study on the Markets for Poultry Commodities in Albania and Macedonia

Brief Description of Main Deliverables/Outputs:
The fact that small and middle enterprises often do not have enough means for surveys of the developing markets, often leads to overlooking their potentials. The study aimed to assess the challenges and possibilities for the German companies from the poultry sector. It aimed to offer exact and practical advice and information that will help connecting with the exporters from Albania and Macedonia.

Role on the Assignment

The Contractor provided the following activities: 

1. Produced overview on poultry consumption in Albania and Macedonia; 
2. Provided details on main food pattern of poultry  in Albania and Macedonia (as a whole, single sections / single parts, processed commodities / processed products );
3. Explained the preferences of the consumers in Albania and Macedonia;
4. Described the Albanian and Macedonian poultry market separated by different poultry species (development, production, slaughtering, demand, supply balance and channels of commercialization / marketing);
5. Described the Albanian and Macedonian poultry market separated by the different market segments that include: fresh poultry, frozen poultry and cooked poultry products;

6. Provided detailed  data on development of prices for poultry in Albania and Macedonia (producer prices, wholesale prices, process for ultimate consumer, comparison of prices with those for imported products);
7. Gave import statistics for poultry and poultry commodities in general and separated by CN numbers and countries of origin. These included clarification of available data and information; Collection of data; Data analysis and Validation of data;
8. Described the export practice including import-procedure for poultry and cooked poultry commodities, Custom duties / Quotas and Possible risks (for example currency risk).
